Orion Browser Comes to Linux: A WebKit-Based Alternative to Chromium Browsers

1 avril 2026 à 15:44

Linux users today have plenty of browser options. Many people rely on Chromium-based browsers such as Vivaldi, Chromium, Opera, or Brave, which all share the same rendering engine. However, a new option is slowly entering the Linux ecosystem: Orion, the privacy-focused browser developed by Kagi.

Originally available only on macOS, Orion is now being ported to Linux, and the first early beta builds are already available for testing. What makes Orion interesting is that it takes a completely different approach compared to most modern browsers. Instead of relying on Chromium, Orion is built on WebKit, the same engine used by Safari.
